  3. 1987).  This is an EXCELLENT series of articles that is intended to
  4. provide accurate and reliable information about what works in the
  5. education of our children.  It is meant to be useful to all of
  6. us--parents and taxpayers, teachers and legislators, newspaper reporters
  7. and newspaper readers, principals and school board members.  But, first
  8. and foremost, this book is intended to be useful to the adult with a
  9. child--or grandchild, niece, stepchild, neighbor--in school or  soon to
  10. enter school.  It is designed to assist the adult who cares about the
  11. education of that child, both at home and in school.  I recommend it
